Earth, Wind, & Rider

Apparel Design / Product Development / Creative Direction

Some of the best working relationships begin with a shared interest.
This one began at a bicycle race.

A chance meeting with the owner of Earth, Wind & Rider at the 2006 Sea Otter Classic grew into a collaboration spanning apparel design, product development, sales materials, and trade shows. The company specialized in premium merino wool cycling jerseys, drawing inspiration from the sport's rich history and the enduring appeal of classic racing apparel.

Over the following years, the work included hundreds of jersey designs and a semi-custom program that made personalized apparel practical for smaller bicycle shops. By building a system around standardized colors, stripes, and layouts, shops could create their own distinctive jerseys without the expense or minimum quantities of fully custom production.

The system extended from customer presentations and artwork to production specifications for the overseas mill, simplifying the process for both the shops and the manufacturer.

It was an opportunity to connect design, manufacturing, and sales around a shared enthusiasm for cycling.

Good design doesn't always mean making something different. Sometimes it means making something possible.
